Known and Unknown

We made it!! Jeff and I are sitting here in our apartment in Kyiv, checking everything out, marveling at the reality of why we are here. Even though we are tired after 20 hours of
traveling (including lay-overs), we are thrilled to be here...thrilled to be so close to our son.

Jeff is in the kitchen heating up some food we got at the market. And I am in the living room, simply pondering what all waits ahead for us. At this point, it's all a bunch of knowns
and unknowns.

Known: We have an SDA (State Department of Adoption) appointment on Tuesday at 12:00.
Unknown: What we will find out about Vova, such as how old he was when he entered the orphanage and why he became an orphan in the first place.

Known: We will get to meet Vova for the first time on Thursday.
Unknown: What that memorable moment will be like when we first lay eyes on our son.

Known: Jeff and I are expanding our family from 4 children to 5.
Unknown: Why God chose us, of all people, for this prividge to adopt.

Known: Even in the midst of a world of unknowns, it is a joy to have confidence in the God who has made Himself known to us! Because I trust in Him to lead us and guide us, it is not necessary for me to know all the facts that lie ahead. All I need to do is take one step at a time, knowing that as we take each step, He will show us where to go from there.

Signing off for today. But before I do, I want to share a funny moment. When we got to the Munich airport, we were supposed to go to gate H26. We followed the signs until we found the
"H" hallway. We were talking and laughing so much that we missed the gate. We were now at gate H28. So we turned around to find where we were supposed to be, but could not find our
gate. We stood in front of two signs completely confused, for one sign pointed to gates H1-H25 to the left, and the other sign pointed to gates H27-H30 on the right. We kept walking back and forth looking for the mysterious, missing gate. I know we looked like fools! Finally we realized that in order for us to get to the gate, we had to walk through a duty-free store!! Who would have thought to do that?? If Jeff hadn't noticed where the gate was, I think I would still be wandering the halls baffled. We must be over-the-edge tired, because we keep laughing about gate H26.
